The Story
Jean-Luc Reuben was born Tuesday at 1:31 am. Mommy, Daddy, and Rose went to pick up Grandma at the airport in Portland Monday afternoon. We all got home at 4:00pm. We had dinner and started to get Grandma settled in. Leana noticed she was having cramps around dinner time, but since she had such bad Braxton Hicks she didn't think much of it. She continued her nightly routine, including helping with dishes and giving Rose a bath. Then after Rose went to bed she realized the cramps were feeling different then Braxton Hicks. We started timing them and they were at five minutes apart. She called the midwife that was on call at 10:00pm. She advised that it might be labor, but recommended relaxation techniques such as taking a bath and trying to sleep. She took a bath and during the bath the cramps became closer together. She called the midwife again at about 11:00 pm and the midwife told her to go ahead and go to the hospital. Josh and Leana went to the hospital at 11:30pm, while Grandma watched Rose and waited for Aunt Salinda to come get her. Twenty minutes after Leana got to the hospital her water broke. About 30 minutes after that Salinda dropped Grandma off at the hospital. About an hour later Jean-Luc was born at 1:31 am Tuesday morning. We all doing well.
